Jazz the House – An American dance event!

Convergence – the 30th Annual Jazz & Tap Dance Festival – 2016

Fairfax, Virginia (January 1, 2016) – The Dancin’ Unlimited Jazz Dance Company presents Convergence 2016 as its 30th Annual Jazz & Tap Dance Festival. Choreographers today are mixing and merging the classic entertainment dance styles – jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, and Broadway. As a new artistic revue, Convergence 2016 will be performed on Saturday, March 12, 2016, 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 13, 2016, 4:00 p.m. at the Northern Virginia Community College Annandale Campus Theater.   For information and tickets, click on http://www.jazz-dance.org.

Convergence 2016 is produced as a collaboration, by Marilyn York, Dancin’ Unlimited Artistic Director, showcasing area dance companies. Joining Dancin’ Unlimited, are Capitol Movement, Confuzion, iMpulse (Metropolitan School of the Arts), JaM Project/JaM Youth Project, MYTE (Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble), Fusion Dance, Seton Hill Dance Company, and Sole Sisters.

Each company brings something unique to the stage. The dancers may blend jazz with hip hop, tap with jazz, or modern dance with a contemporary flair. American dance is evolving, with separate styles fusing into new, appealing presentations – still vital, fresh, rhythmic and energetic – and fundamental to our national spirit. This is art that honors original street dance techniques with contemporary inspiration.
